I am at a loss for words.

Once there was a time when mothers were considered the nourishers.

I have no problem with higher gas prices if the price of oil goes up.

I do have a problem with high gas prices if the price of oil goes down and gas prices don’t follow suit.

We have to listen to ridiculous explanations as to why prices go up – a new storm, some political event, because the OPEC is not raising production

….whatever works to calm the masses.

Whatever the reasons though, if the oil price drops, gas prices don’t follow suit.

We even have hurricanes truly crippling US oil production in the gulf….and the oil price drops anyway.

But the gas price doesn’t budge.

Germany likes to control a whole lot of things, but here the goverment seems paralyzed.  The ADAC seems paralyzed.

You hear a few murmors of complaint here and there and you can literally feel the oil companies smiling insouciantly.

If only people would feel the outrage and act…drive less, don’t drive at all…let the law of supply and demand work in our favor!

Why is the number of medals reported, in most sources, as the total number achieved by a given country?

This seems pretty unfair considering that several countries have arrived at the games with hundreds of athletes while others have less than five.

I had to look around a bit to find a table where you can see the number of medals per athlete.

Here you can see both the medals per athlete in a given team table and the medals per capita of a country.

• Number 1 in medals per athlete: Togo
• Number 1 in medals per million inhabitants: Bahamas

I somehow find those numbers much more meaningful….
